Recognising that embedding a more sustainable approach to consumption amongst companies and individuals is key to the future of energy, the organisation was keen to champion the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the business and its client base.
Collectively, the goals set out a blueprint for a better, more sustainable future for all in society; across areas such as clean energy and carbon reduction.
The challenge was to transform these high-level goals into actionable changes that Inspired PLC’s internal team could make throughout their day, alongside the staff and management within clients supplied by the business.
And given the increasing importance of the SDG ratings to businesses in the UK, it also needed to help clients demonstrate their actions in achieving the goals by a robust and audit-ready means.
We started by developing a detailed understanding of the UN’s goals, identifying day-to-day steps individuals could take and the carbon reduction impact those changes would have.
From there, our team built SDGMe, a dashboard and mobile app upon the Unify platform, which essentially gamified carbon reduction: with the amount saved added to a user’s overall score following every positive change made.
Importantly, the tool also supports Inspired’s own clients to drive operational and behavioural change while sharing the results of the steps they’ve taken. Through a slick and straight-forward app designed with gamifcation and social sharing at its core, anyone involved in the business can now record ther positive impact on the environment.
The tool provides an opportunity for daily reflection on how the SDGs are being addressed today and what could be done better tomorrow, whilst leading the way in how corporate businesses can make a measurable difference.
